Organic Sheepskin

The coziest organic sheepskins for your sustainable home. My naturally tanned sheepskins are the most incredibly soft, natural material you can imagine. The skins are naturally tanned by me to produce a dreamily soft, luxurious sheepskin rug. The one shown here is a NavajoChurro/Jacob breed.

• Naturally tanned without the use of harmful chemicals.  This is a long, laborious process that can take up to 8 weeks, but the benefits are 100% worth it.

• Wool is an all natural fiber that is naturally breathable, odor & stain resistant, completely renewable, and biodegradable at the end of its long life.

Benefits of sheepskin:

Temperature - The sheepskin is a thermo-regulator, keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer. Also allows skin to breathe.

Calming - Sheepskin is an electrical semiconductor, creating a calming effect, eliminating the muscular tension and stimulating the circulation in the tissues.

Anti-bacterial - Made of 100% protein fibers, the skin creates an environment unfavorable to the development of bacteria.

For babies: There are some products that have lasted the test of time in baby care and sheepskin is one of them. Its natural durability and health benefits for babies have proven to be superior.

Did you know that traditionally, many yogis have used animal skins to sit on during yoga and meditation as it creates an insulation between the yogi and the magnetic pull of the earth.

Our sheepskins are a natural product and crafted by hand which will result in variances in color, size, and texture and are not considered defects.  They may have repairs or imperfections on the backside that do not affect the beauty of the sheepskin. If there are butcher cuts, I've chosen to make it part of the story and have woven the holes.
